Product Description from Amazon:
REAL PLEASURE CAN’T BE TAKEN….

Granddaughter of a renowned courtesan, Maybelle de Maitenon has no interest in her grandmother’s school in London where gentlemen receive instruction — in the art of seduction. Her only desire in life is to remain indepedent, free from men and the shackles of marriage. But when Maybelle lays eyes on Edmund Worthington, the Duke of Rutherford, at a soiree, and hears of his scandalous reputation, she decides he’s the perfect person for her to have a tryst with no strings attached…
IT MUST BE GIVEN…
Unbridled passion has again muddied Edmund Worthington’s family name. After his very public dalliance with the strikingly beautiful and sensual Maybelle, his mother insists he marry her. But much to the duke’s surprise, Maybelle scoffs at his proposal. Never has he encountered such a brazen – and maddeningly irresistable – woman. But when Maybelle’s grandmother falls ill, forcing Maybelle to take over the operation of the school, Edmund devises a plan to make her his. He enrolls in the school, where no one other than Maybelle must give him expert lessons in carnal pleasure…

Marvelle does another amazing job of writing a unique and scandalous Historical Romance novel starring some amazing characters! The fact that the book revolves around a French courtesan, her Granddaughter, and a scandalous school to help men seduce women, tells you that you are in for an awesome read!

Maybelle is our wonderful leading lady who has been raised by her grandmother since she was little.  Maybelle is a strong-headed, take-charge kind of woman.  She might be a virgin but she is very knowledgable in the bedroom department because of her Grandmother.  She has vowed that she does not ever want to get married or fall in love and she won’t give up her virginity until she finds a man who is worth it.  When she sees an attractive man at a social gathering in London, she knows she has finally found the man for the job…

…Enter Edmund, a sexy and eligible bachelor who has scandal written on his name thanks to his father.  Edmund seemed like he was trying to make his own way in life and get the scandal his father left him and his mother off his back…without much luck.  His nosey mother has tried to marry him off several times and every time Edmund has found a reason to not marry the girl.  Then enter Maybelle and her mysteriousness and Edmund is hooked.

What starts off as a way to lose her virginity turns into a tumble of emotions and feelings that Maybelle was not expecting and is not open to at all! On top of what she is going through with Edmund, her Grandmother’s illness pushes her into the role of teacher at the scandalous school her Grandmother opened.

This book was a very fast read for me because I just wanted to know what was going to happen next. The romance, the sex, the side characters, the school…it was all very enjoyable to read and take me back in time to carriages, beautiful big dresses, men always wearing suits, and fun parties that almost everyone was invited to.

If you enjoy Historical romances pick this book up and enjoy!!

  1. Oh an earlier one? I am seeing her name everywhere lately 🙂 And a 5, well that does sound good. I think I need some more HR

  2. blodeuedd – Yes this was her first book she published, it was supposed to become a 5 book series, I believe, but she switched publishers after the second one (Lord of Pleasure) so she couldn’t finish the series. I absolutely lover Marvelle’s style of writing and her unique characters. If you do decide to try it out start with this one or Prelude to a Scandal (you can find my review of that one under my books by cover, along with the Series Review for The Scandal Series if you haven’t already checked them out). 😀
