Sookie Stackhouse Series #3
There’s only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and that’s Bill. But recently he’s been a little distant – in another state distant. His sinister and sexy boss, Eric, has an idea where to find him. Next thing Sookie knows, she is off to Jackson, Mississippi, to mingle with the under-under world at Club Dead. It’s a dangerous little haunt where the elitist vampire society can go to chill out and suck down some type O. But when Sookie finally finds Bill – caught in an act of serious betrayal – she’s not sure whether to save him…or sharpen some stakes.
This was another great addition to the Sookie series bringing in more information on the vampires and the were’s. Bill is acting very strange at the very beginning and you can’t help but be annoyed with him. He is supposed to love Sookie but yet he is keeping her distant and she knows that he is lying to her. When she hasn’t heard from him in several days Eric finally tells her that Bill has been lying to her and is now missing. He also breaks the news to her that Bill had been visiting another vampire, Lorena. This leads Sookie on another adventure for the vampires to Mississippi.
Sookie heads off to Mississippi with the goal in mind of finding Bill and bringing him home even if that means they are not together. She isn’t alone in her adventure, however, when we are introduced to a werewolf named Alcide. Alcide is very sexy and while Sookie is around him she feels that it is very natural but doesn’t want to act on any of her feelings since she is still technically Bill’s girlfriend and the fact that Alcide had just broken up with a very serious girlfriend.
This book has several twists and turns in it and you go through several emotions not sure how to completely feel about it all. Bill is being a butt, Eric is really turning up the heat towards Sookie, Alcide’s ex is just psycho and Sookie is stuck in the middle of it all and even gets staked in this book!
Several events occur at the end of the book that make your eyes widen in complete shock and you can’t believe what you are reading. The very end of the book ends in a somewhat frustrating way, at least for me, but it is also very understandable what Sookie tells both Bill and Eric.
I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to see what Charlaine has in store for us in the up-in-coming books (I already know now that I’ve read them all but I remember being just completely ready to pick up the next book to see what happens when I first read them).
If you enjoy vampire and were’s and shapshifters you need to pick up the first book in this series and start reading! They will forever be on my favorite book series list and I’ve already talked 3 people into reading them which has made them also recommend the books to several of their friends who LOVE them! They are a fast read which makes it better and I enjoy the fact that they aren’t just romance books they also have a mystery set in the pages of each book which makes them continually entertaining!
