Meme Day 19: Best Ensemble of Characters

Best ensemble of characters in a book? Best ensemble of characters in a movie?

When I think of this I think of a book or movie that had a great variety of characters but you still couldn’t help but love them all for what they were supposed to be.  I need some main characters that you can’t help but become attached to, I need some characters for comic relief, I need a bad guy (or two) that you just love to hate, and then the other supporting characters that even though they are their for support of the story and plot lines you can still become attached to them.  Each character needs to have their own identity and special quarks that really make them stand out for you.

For best ensemble of characters I must go with the Harry Potter Series.  I loved all of the characters in these books!  Harry, well what’s not to love about him? Ron, the funny side-kick who always means well. Hermione, who can’t love an awesome girl who is loyal and smart?! Fred & George, the hilarious twins that are always good for comic relief. Hagrid, another character that means well and always puts the interest of others, especially animals, infront of his own (most of the time).  Dumbledor, the amazing head master of Hogwarts who is feared by many and always sides on the good side.  Snape, the teacher that you love to hate and yet there is something inside of you that wants him to be a good guy. Malfoy, the horrid boy who wants to make Harry’s life a living hell…you can’t help but want to jump in the book and kill him.  I could keep going but I’ll stop there.  LOL.  Just a great mixture of characters that you can never grow tired of.

Runners Up: The Night Huntress Series

Yep, I’m sticking to what I know.  I know I meantion these upper two a lot in these Meme things but sometimes when they are that good they are just that good.  I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy the movies!  They are fantastic and so enjoyable to watch.  I think the Characters are fantastic and really caputre your attention.  You have Frodo the fun little naieve but brave hobbit.  His wonderful friends of Pippin and Merry who can be very funny even when they are not being smart about it. The whole crew that goes on the mission of destroying the ring: Legolas (I have elf love here), Gimli (I love his stubborness), Aragorn (HOT), and Boromir (started out as a problem but ended as a true loyal individual). Then our two main wizards, Gandalf and Sauron, both great at what they do but you really love one of them and really hate the other! Yeah, just all around a great ensemble of characters.

Runners Up: Not really sure right now…

What are some books you think have the best ensemble of Characters? What about movies, do any movies come to mind for you that you really loved all the characters and thought all the actors really got into the roles well??

  1. I have no idea how you have managed to answer all these questions, they are just so tricky! And I always just wanna go by your answers 😉

    • Haha, the thing I have going for me is I haven’t read nearly as many books as most of you have so I don’t have many to go through in my head to choose. Of course it is tough but I just have to think about it and every once in a while I will google the questions and sort through the top 50 of something to see if I agree with any of them or if they will spark something in my mind. 🙂

  2. Harry Potter is a perfect choice for movie and books! More books for me – the Sinners from Olivia Cunning’s books, the Brothers in BDB (mostly in the earlier books when we saw more of all of the characters), the gang in Maya Banks’ Sweet books and the gang in Nora Roberts’ Bride Quartet books are great. Oh, and the Mortal Instruments characters. All great together!

    • Looks like there are several books and series that I really need to check out! I’m glad most of the ones you mentioned above are on my TBR list already! I can’t wait to have more time to spend some relaxing time reading. 😀
